Verdun updates
The second bridge over Wood Creek will be re-installed this winter.Ĭreek enhancement work at Parc Verdun has begun and will continue for two to three weeks. We will be opening portions of the park to the public in the interim. We anticipate having the courts paved in early March 2022 with temporary lines and then painted later in spring 2022. This is particularly important for tennis courts which have particular requirements that cannot be achieved when the air temperatures are too low.

The asphalt for the tennis/sport court still needs to be installed, however, it is not advisable to install asphalt during colder temperatures. Parc Verdun improvements are almost complete. We expect the second bridge will be re-installed in the next several weeks, dependent upon material delivery. Supply chain issues have delayed installation of the second bridge over Wood Creek. Trails within the park are now open to the public, with the exception of one bridge over Wood Creek. The courts are still anticipated to be ready for use by summer. Owing to unfavourable weather conditions, installation of the asphalt for the tennis/sports court has been delayed. The Parc Verdun improvements project continues to move ahead, despite some construction delays. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work with our contractor to complete this project. The final bridge over Wood Creek has been installed, and all trails within the park are now open to the public.
Court fencing, practice wall, basketball net, court lines, and nets will be installed as soon as the weather and contractor availability allows. Installation of the asphalt for the tennis/sports court is scheduled for Wednesday, June 15 and Thursday, June 16. The Parc Verdun improvements project is now nearly complete. We anticipate the courts will be ready for play by July 25. In the meantime, the contractor will be installing steps, and preparing the area for the tennis net posts and basketball hoop this week, before moving on to installing the fencing and practice board. The asphalt has to cure and harden before the sports court coating and lines can be applied. The contractor continues to work on-site and the improvements to Parc Verdun are now scheduled to be completed by the end of July or the first week of August.Īsphalt for the new sports courts was installed over the week of June 20.
